What we cover under Safe Opening
Domestic safes (key + combination)
Burton, Phoenix, Yale, Master Lock, Sentry — common UK domestic brands. We open most domestic safes without drilling using manipulation or override techniques. Cost depends heavily on brand and difficulty — quote on inspection.
Electronic & biometric safes
Dead batteries, lost override keys, malfunctioning keypads. We can reset electronic safes in most cases. Biometric (fingerprint) safes are more complex — sometimes requires authorisation from manufacturer.
Commercial safes (Eurograde rated)
Insurance-rated commercial safes (Eurograde 0, 1, 2, 3, etc.). These are designed to resist drilling, so opening them takes time and specialist equipment. Quote always on inspection — typically £150–£500 depending on grade.
Floor & wall safes
Built-in safes are often older and may have unusual mechanisms. We assess on inspection and quote accordingly. Most domestic floor safes openable for £100–£250.
Combination changes
Once a safe is open, we can change the combination or replace the lock so the new owner has fresh access. Standard £60–£120 depending on lock complexity.
Deceased estate access
Discreet, professional service for accessing safes after bereavement. We may ask for proof of authorisation (probate, executor letter) — protects the estate and us. Sympathetic handling throughout.

Safe Opening — frequently asked questions
How much does opening a safe cost?
Highly variable. Standard domestic safes: £80–£200. Commercial Eurograde-rated safes: £150–£600. Specialist or vintage safes: quote on inspection. We always inspect before quoting — fixed price agreed before any work starts.
Will you damage my safe?
Whenever possible, no — manipulation and override techniques are always tried first. For some commercial-grade safes (Eurograde 2+) and most modern electronic safes after battery failure, drilling may be the only option. We explain this before starting.
I've inherited a safe and have no idea what's inside. Can you help?
Yes. This is a common request. We'll ask for some basic proof that you're authorised to access it (executor letter, probate, etc.) — this protects the estate. Then we open it discreetly. We don't look at or remove anything from the safe; that's entirely up to you.
